Elephant Rock in Ulleungdo Island was once connected to the island, but through years of wave erosion the rock was left alone in the middle of the ocean. Approximately 59 meters in x_height and 80 meters in length, there are various columnar joints throughout the rock. A 10 meter-high arch hole at the bottom of the rock looks like the trunk of an elephant, giving the rock its name.
